Versailles and Eldon cross country battle at Moberly

Runners from Eldon and Versailles were amongst a field of 82 boys and 71 girls in the Moberly Invitational on Thursday. 

The Versailles boys finished fourth amongst the schools who fielded enough runners for team competition with 123 points while Eldon eighth amongst the 10 schools with 181 points. Both schools did not compete in team competition for the girls race. 

Eldon's Nathan Reynolds, a freshman, finished second overall amongst the pack of 82 runners with a time of 17:22.47. He was just behind Moberly senior Antonio Rivera who crossed the finish line at 17:21.28. 

Jacob Arnold finished 43rd overall for the Mustangs with a time of 21:27, Zackery Brown placed 54th at 22:03, Garrett Greenwalt was right behind him in 55th at 22:04, Tate Witzman was 71st at 24:32 and Luke Graham captured 79th at 28:09. 

The Versailles boys were paced by Seth Newton who finished eighth overall with a time of 18:22. Zachary Radefeld was not far behind him finishing 11th at 18:46, Dagan Haggerman was 29th at 20:27, Matthew Radefeld was 45th at 21:30 and Ryley Pryor captured 50th at 21:49. Carmen Lemell was the lone Tiger to represent the girls and she finished 26th amongst the pack of 71 runners with a time of 24:06.

The Eldon girls were led by freshman Zoe Martonfi who placed fifth with a time of 20:05. Vivian Wester earned 46th with a time of 25:30, Makenna Imler was 48th at 25:42 and Adysson Gerber finished 63rd at 28:01. 

Eldon and Versailles both return to action at the Russellville Invitational on October 10.
