Woman dies after crash with FedEx truck near Rogersville
Troopers say a woman died Friday morning after she was involved in a crash near Rogersville.
Mercedes Luna, 21, of Strafford, died at the hospital after her car crashed with a FedEx truck on Highway 125 just before 8 a.m., according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The report says Luna swerved off the roadway and into a ditch to avoid an oncoming vehicle that was in her lane attempting to make a pass.
Luna's Honda Civic then traveled back onto the roadway, "scuffed sideways" and was hit broadside by the FedEx truck, according to the report.
The driver of the FedEx truck had minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help identifying the driver of a dark SUV they say caused Luna to swerve off the roadway and did not stick around after the crash.
Anyone with information is asked to call 417-895-6868.
Springfield TV station KY3 reported that Luna is a student-teacher in the Logan-Rogersville school district.
