The Lake of the Ozarks Water Safety Council and the Missouri State Highway Patrol – Water Patrol Division presented a Citation of Valor award to Bridgeview Marina owner, Greg Newell and employees, Ainsley Cusick, Daisie Reinhart, and Craig Berry for their courageous actions on the afternoon of May 2, 2020.

While a watercraft was fueling at the Bridgeview Marina gas dock, an explosion took place ejecting two people from the boat.  The dock crew sprang into action by shutting off the fuel-pump emergency shut-off, cutting the lines of the watercraft to push it into the cove to minimize additional injury and property damage and jumping into the water to rescue those in the water.  A fellow boater assisted with the rescue efforts.  Unfortunately, one occupant from the boat did not survive the explosion.

The quick action of these local heroes saved lives and prevented a potential catastrophic fire of surrounding fuel tanks, pumps and other vessels.
