Hosting a holiday party this year? It doesn’t have to be stressful. Check out these great tips to make sure your party is big hit among family and friends.

Charcuterie boards have become so popular there are now classes on the subject.

Rebecca Christiansen, owner of A Pinch of Happiness Spice Shop in Camdenton has hosted these classes to the public and is offering her best tips to create the perfect platter.

√ Create regional boards - Spanish, Greek, Italian, etc.

√ Be creative and use slate boards you can write on, marble or granite slabs, or cutting boards for your platter.

√ Vary textures on the platter.

√ Plan for 2 ounces of meat per person, and use different flavors of meats.

√ Cheese is a must - use hard and creamy cheeses.

√ Rustic breads and crackers work best.

√ Balance out the board with nuts and fresh fruits like grapes and apples.

√ Pickled vegetables complement the meats.

√ Use decorative bowls to add dimension to the platter.

Pro tips:

√ Don’t forget to include spices inside your Thanksgiving turkey as well as on the outside.

√ Keep healthy fruit and vegetables cut up and on hand so you aren’t always reaching for those holiday cookies.

√ Prepare as much as you can ahead of time to reduce stress.

√ Don’t be afraid to ask for help preparing meals for the holidays.

A Pinch of Happiness is more than just a spice shop. Founded in 2007 after the birth of her son Ryan, who has Down Syndrome, Rebecca wanted to support children and adults with disabilities by providing a path to a meaningful life. Founded with the help of a non-profit Celebrate Differences, their mission is to provide job skills training and show other business owners how capable individuals with disabilities are as employees.

The store has gift sets that are perfect for the holidays and can create customize baskets. Dip mix sets and loose leaf tea sets are easy ways to make drinks and snacks for your party as well.

In addition to cooking classes, A Pinch of Happiness will be hosting a Shelf on the Elf party for children, a DIY Sugar Scrubs (Nov. 4 from 6-7 p.m.) and other events. Check their Facebook page for more information.
