Camdenton sweeps Rolla in regular season finale
The postseason has arrived and Camdenton will begin it with plenty of momentum.
After sweeping Springfield Central 3-0 on Wednesday, the Lakers visited Rolla for their regular season finale and won their sixth straight set with a sweep of the Bulldogs (25-22, 25-11, 25-17).
Both seniors Jackie White and Miranda Hadfield smacked down 13 kills each to lead the Laker attack while junior Payton Kincaid added nine, senior Sydney Smith added seven and both junior Mya Hulett and senior Delaney Van Buren contributed four each. Kincaid and Smith also served up an ace each and Smith finished with 19 assists while junior Elle Turner provided 15 and senior Olivia Whittle put up five. Whittle led the defense with 20 digs, Kincaid added 14, Smith recorded 12 and senior Brooklyn Stidham added six.
Camdenton (23-5-3, 8-1 Ozark Conference) will be the top seed on home floor for the Class 4 District 8 Tournament on Monday and the Lakers will face No. 4 Rolla in a rematch at 5:30 p.m. with a trip to the championship on the line.
Eldon win streak ends in battle at Helias
If Eldon's 11-game winning streak was going to come to an end, the Mustangs made sure it took all five sets in the regular season finale at Helias Thursday night.
After winning the first set 25-22, Eldon's 25th win in its past 26 sets, Helias won the next set 25-15. The Mustangs battled to take a 2-1 lead with a 34-32 win in set three, but the Crusaders answered winning the final two sets, 25-22 and 19-17.
Eldon junior Caroline Beckmann led Eldon's attack with 26 kills while sophomore Haley Henderson smacked down 16, junior Jade Hall added eight, senior Cassidy Prater contributed six and senior Taylor Henderson put up five. Haley added two service aces and senior Addie Davis contributed 55 assists. Junior Tatum Frank led the defensive effort with 16 digs, Taylor put up 15, Beckmann added 14, Haley finished with 12 and Davis finished with nine. Prater also added four blocks while Davis, Beckmann and Taylor added two each.
Eldon (22-5-1, 5-2 Tri-County Conference) will be the top seed for the Class 3 District 9 Tournament at Osage next week. The Mustangs will take on No. 4 Warsaw in the semifinals after the Wildcats' play-in game against No. 5 Versailles was cancelled due to coronavirus issues and the Tigers not having enough players available on their roster.
First serve between Eldon and Warsaw is set for Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Osage sweeps Boonville in regular season finale
School of the Osage ended its regular season on the right track Thursday night after sweeping Boonville (25-17, 25-22, 25-21).
The Indians wrapped up the Versailles Invitational last weekend 2-3 overall before jumping back in the win column Thursday night and the Indians will look to carry that momentum to the postseason.
Osage (16-12-1, 3-3 Tri-County Conference) will be the third seed in the Class 3 District 9 Tournament on home floor Tuesday night where the Indians will face No. 2 California in the semifinals at 7 p.m.
