Eldon made a trip north up Highway 54 for a race in Mexico Tuesday night and the Mustangs walked away with a pair of freshmen medalists in the Mexico Autumn Classic.

Eldon made a trip north up Highway 54 for a race in Mexico Tuesday night and the Mustangs walked away with a pair of freshmen medalists in the Mexico Autumn Classic. 

Eldon's Zoe Martonfi finished second overall in her race amongst a field of 59 runners with a time of 20:07, trailing only Marion County's Delaney Straus (19:42). Meanwhile, Nathan Reynolds finished sixth amongst the pack of 67 runners with a sixth place finish at 17:43.

The Mustang boys finished seventh overall as a team amongst the nine schools who fielded teams with 195 points while Helias finished first with 29, respectively. The Eldon girls did not field a team for this race. 

Eldon's Garrett Greenwalt finished 40th overall with a time of 20:51, Jacob Arnold was 45th at 21:18, Zacker Brown was 50th at 22:24, Matthew Pollett was 65th at 26:09 and Luke Graham finished 66th at 26:13. Adysson Gerber was the only other Eldon girl to represent the Mustangs and she finished 55th in her race with a time of 28:10. 

Eldon will race its regular season finale at Fatima on Saturday at 9 a.m. before districts get underway at Hermitage next Saturday.
