Lakers bring home 17 medals

Camdenton dove into the pool at Smith-Cotton in Sedalia on Saturday and the Lakers were fairly productive if 17 different medals are any indication.

The Lakers finished fifth overall as a team and came home with 12 personal records as well.

One of the highlights of the day came from the 200 individual medley relay where the quartet of Emily Willis, Amanda Ferguson, Kiah Seymour and Irelyn Meckley won the race. Willis started with the backstroke while Ferguson followed with the breaststroke, Seymour the butterfly and Meckley in freestyle. It was good enough for a new personal record and state consideration time. Another state consideration time and personal record came from the same group in the 200 freestyle relay where the team finished third.

Another 200 freestyle relay team in Marran Garrett, Brooke Echternacht, Reagan Faiferlick and Raquel Potteiger finished 11th with a personal record.

Seymour also swam in the 200 individual medley and finished third. The 200 freestyle featured a pair of Lakers in Potteiger and Echternacht who finished sixth and 10th, respectively, with new personal records.

The 50 freestyle featured four Lakers and Meckley led the way with a third place finish. Ferguson took 14th with a new personal record along with Garrett who finished 16th and Beaux Darnall who came in 25th. Willis led the charge in the 100 freestyle with a third place finish, Meckley finished fourth and Garrett came in 14th with a new personal record. Potteiger finished fourth in the 500 freestyle with a new personal record and Addy Normand captured 10th.

Willis swam to a second place finish in the 100 backstroke, Echternacht came in 12th and Darnall finished 17th with a new best time. Last but not least, the 100 breaststroke featured a third place finish from Seymour, a sixth place finish from Ferguson, a 15th place finish with Normand with anew best time, a 17th place finish from Faiferlick and an 19th place time from Bailey Hurr.

Camdenton was scheduled to return to action on Tuesday in Springfield and will be back at Foster Natatorium in Springfield on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
