Eldon's Kassidy Hull earns All-State honors for second straight season

The best Class 1 golfers in the state gathered in Nixa on Monday and Tuesday to settle who would become a state champion and Eldon's Kassidy Hull and Hannah Petet along with Osage's Sydney Riley were among them.

After two days and 36 holes of golf at Fremont Hills Golf Course, Springfield Catholic's Kayla Pfitzner defended her state title in the Class 1 championship with a two-day total of 146 on the scorecard that was just four strokes over par on the par 71 course.

Hull, a returning junior All-State golfer who finished seventh in 2018, earned the recognition once again by finishing in the top 15 and moving up the ladder to a third place finish with a score of 161 in her third state tournament. Reagan Zibilski of Springfield Catholic finished second after racking up a total of 151. Petet, a young sophomore playing in her first state tournament, finished 63rd for the Mustangs with a 226 amongst a field 90.

Like Hull, Riley moved up a few spots for Osage in her second state tournament as she went from 72nd in 2018 to 38th as a junior after carding a two-day total of 210.

"Sydney made a heck of an improvement from last year," Osage coach L.J. Weeks said. "She had some rough holes this year that she wishes she could go back and play over but that is true of all golfers. I'm also really proud of her grit and determination. The weather both days this year was less tha nideal as it was cold and very windy, especially on Tuesday. Sydney's attitude was always positive and she was ready to go tackle the course. I'm excited to see what is in store for her next year."

The trio from the Lake area will all be back in 2020, looking to make their way to the top of the podium.
