WHEATLAND, Mo. (AP) — Four people are hospitalized after a storm flipped campers and destroyed the grandstand at a western Missouri race track.
A severe weather system that formed in the Plains rumbled across Missouri Monday night and into Tuesday, bringing damaging winds along with heavy rain that added even more water to already flooded rivers.
The Missouri River is expected to rise to major flood stage at Jefferson City, St. Charles and other towns. The Missouri National Guard moved four helicopters out of the threatened airport in Jefferson City, and a Memorial Day weekend airshow was canceled.
A Monday night storm flipped campers and destroyed the grandstand at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland. Seven people were hurt, four of whom were hospitalized. Details about the injuries were not immediately available.
