Versailles' Bartlett picks up second match medalist honors of the season
Versailles visited Cole Camp on a rainy Thursday for a battle with the Bluebirds and Smithton and the Tigers finished on top with a team score of 167 while Cole Camp carded a 194 and Smithton did not have enough golfers to qualify for team competition.
Ori Bartlett added his second match medalist honor to his resume this season after shooting a 38 to best the field through nine holes. Garrett Boatright and Joel Faron both shot a 42, Kyle Bartlett turned in a 45, Caleb Sousley added a 52 and Ben Dornan carded a 43 playing as an individual.
"Heck of an effort,” Versailles coach Kyle Nolawski pointed out. “The weather did not want to cooperate and the conditions were awful, but I’m extremely proud of how the guys handled themselves out there today. They stayed positive, kept their heads down and stayed grinding away until the finish. This was our best score this season by far and it was definitely a great way to close out a week.”
Versailles will visit Osage National Golf Club on Monday at 4 p.m., for a triangular with host Osage and Blair Oaks before hosting its own tournament this Wednesday.
