Versailles, which had protected a 4-2 lead through six innings of play, gave up the tying run in the seventh to send it to extra innings in the eighth before the fateful Skyline run came in.

Versailles finished with seven hits in the contest and Colbey Boicourt led the way with two of them. Wyatt Espinosa added a hit and two RBIs, and Kaden McGinnis drove in the other run with one single hit on the night as well.

Kade Marriott turned in five innings of work allowing one earned run and four hits while striking out four, Colbey Boicourt gave up an earned run while walking one and Brayden Morrison was tagged with the loss after his 2 2/3 innings of work resulted in two runs, one hit, three walks and five strikeouts.

Versailles (1-2) was scheduled to host Tipton Tuesday night and will be back on the diamond on Monday for a battle with neighbor Stover at 5 p.m.
