The grapplers of Eldon were on the road Thursday night for a Tri-County Conference dual at Boonville and came away with a 45-36 defeat to the Pirates.
Although the scoreboard did not lean in Eldon’s favor, the Mustangs had an encouraging night as the team picked up four of the five matches that were wrestled. Eldon still has yet to wrestle with a full lineup early in the season and conceded half of the 14 matches via forfeit.
Zachery VanHooser picked up a pin for Eldon in the 132-pound match and he was joined by Hunter Waller (138), Kaden Dillon (195) and Scott Johnson (285) who all earned falls as well. Meanwhile, Aidan Gerber (120) and Killian Wilson (126) went uncontested in their respective bouts.
Eldon was scheduled to wrestle in the Versailles Invitational on Saturday and will be on its home mat Tuesday night for a quad with Camdenton, Lebanon and Logan-Rogersville at 5:30 p.m.
