Lakers finish 2nd in own pool, Indians take 6th

Camdenton and School of the Osage were on the pitch over the weekend as the Lakers and Indians hosted their joint annual Centra l Missouri Soccer Invitational.

A total of nine teams descended upon the Lake area with 12 total teams, including the Camdenton junior varsity, being split up into two pools of six.

After all the matches were complete, the Laker varsity finished second in the final standings of the purple division with 12 points while Pembroke Hill captured first with 19 points respectively. Camdenton beat Carl Junction 3-0 and Father Tolton 2-1 while tying Boonville 1-1.

“We played well overall. We were hoping to get a third win, but the girls grinded it out which was nice,” Camdenton coach Chris Byington said. “We had a few girls gone so there were a lot of girls that had to step it up to play. It was good to watch and a good way to gear up for districts.”

Meanwhile, it was a tougher weekend for Osage as the Indians finished sixth in the maroon division with a 3-1 loss to Warrensburg, a 3-0 defeat from Hannibal and a 1-0 loss to the Camdenton junior varsity.

After starting the season 1-5, Camdenton has improved its standing by going 8-1-1 in the last 10 games to move to 9-6-1 and will look to continue that trend on Tuesday at Kickapoo with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. Osage fell to 5-12-1 and the Indians will look to rebound on Tuesday at Fulton with kickoff scheduled for the same time.
