Versailles made a trip up to Wardsville on Wednesday to face the Falcons of Blair Oaks in its Tri-County Conference opener and the Tigers came home with a 5-1 defeat.
Blair Oaks opened up an early 2-0 lead that was cut in half by the third inning, but that was the closest Versailles would get as the Falcons added two more runs in the fifth and another in the seventh.
The Tigers were held to just four total hits on the day via Brayden Morrison, Kaden McGinnis, Taylor Dobbins and Andy Clemens who picked up the lone RBI.
Meanwhile, the pitching duo of McGinnis and Kade Marriott combined to allow four earned runs on eight hits while walking two batters and striking out three.
Versailles (0-2) will visit Osage on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., and will head back to Osage over the weekend to compete in the Osage Wood Bat Tournament.
