It was a high-scoring affair when Versailles and Windsor met on the diamond Friday night.

Neither side had trouble generating offense in a game that featured a combined 29 total hits and 26 runs, but Windsor managed to come out on top and deliver a 14-12 loss to Versailles in the Tigers’ season-opener.

Versailles grabbed the initial lead with two runs in the first inning, but Windsor soon answered with seven runs in the second. The Tigers managed to tie the game up at 7-7 in the fourth, but Windsor piled on seven more runs by the seventh. Once again, Versailles began to mount a comeback but ultimately ran out of outs.

Taylor Dobbins paced the Tiger offense with four hits and three RBIs while Kaden McGinnis also produced four hits and two RBIs of his own. Wyatt Espinosa also drove in a run with one of his two hits.

Meanwhile, the pitching trio of Kade Marriott, McGinnis and Brayden Morrison combined to allow six earned runs on 13 hits while walking eight batters and striking out nine.

Versailles (0-1) will host Blair Oaks in its Tri-County Conference opener on Thursday at 5 p.m.
