Versailles falls to Skyline

Versailles hosted Skyline Monday night and the visitors proved to be tough from the start in a 74-53 win over the Tigers.

Skyline jumped out to a 20-5 lead after the first quarter and it proved to be enough.

Wyatt Espinosa scored 16 points to lead Versailles, Coby Williams added 15 and Jonathon Geier finished his day with 12.

Versailles (11-12, 1-4 Tri-County Conference) was scheduled to face Warsaw Tuesday night before visiting Eldon for the regular season finale on Friday at 5 p.m.

Climax Springs tops Pleasant Hope

Climax Springs welcomed Pleasant Hope to town Monday night and came away with a 59-52 win.

Jake Reed led the way with a double-double as he recorded 21 points and 20 rebounds and Pake Moppin put up 11 points of his own.

It was a pleasing stat line for Climax Springs coach James Butterfield, but the coach said his guards deserved just as much credit with Matt Henderson’s seven points and Cole Smith’s career-high 11.

“Most importantly, Matt had one turnover in 32 minutes at the point. My other freshman Cole really played some excellent defense and it was his 15th birthday,” Butterfield said. “All in all, we played really well.”

Climax Springs (7-14) was scheduled to visit Niangua for the regular season finale on Tuesday and will take on Weaubleau in the first round of district play on Monday at 6 p.m.
