The grapplers of Camdenton, Eldon and Lebanon met on the mats Wednesday night looking for a sweep in tri-dual action.
Camdenton dispatched Eldon 53 to 27 in the first bout of the evening, but fell to Lebanon 63 to 11. It turned out to be a tough night overall for Eldon, which has been dealing with some injuries in the varsity lineup, as they fell to the host Yellowjackets as well by a final score of 71 to 6.
In the first bout between the Lake area wrestlers of Camdenton and Eldon, Grant Garrett put the Lakers on the scoreboard early with a pin in the 106-pound matchup. Colton Libby (120), Jesus Ramirez (160), Bryce Leuenberger (170) and Reese Esqueda (195) all picked up pins as well to give their team a solid lead. Meanwhile, Blake Lapine (152) won a 20-5 technical fall and Jacob Fuglsang (113), Ryan Rothove (132) and Gabe Blain (138) all picked up forfeit victories in uncontested matches.
Eldon’s Isaiah Simmons got things started for the Mustangs in a hard-fought 8-6 sudden victory in the 126-pound class while Hunter Waller (145), Kaden Dillon (220) and Scott Johnson (285) all earned pins and Dawson Brandt (182) took a forfeit victory against the Lakers. Things did not get any easier for Eldon against Lebanon as the Mustangs gave up four uncontested weight classes and Brandt (182) picked up the lone win with a pin.
Meanwhile, Camdenton did not fare much better than Eldon in its second bout of the night as Garrett (106) won a 17-4 major decision, Blain (138) won a 5-1 decision and Lapine (152) picked up a 19-5 major decision to record the team's only wins of the contest. However, Camdenton gave up 12 points due to uncontested weight classes as well.
Up next for Camdenton is the Harrisonville Tournament this weekend, which starts Friday night. Eldon will return to the mats for Spartan Duals in Moberly this weekend, which is scheduled to begin Friday at 9 a.m.
