Dale L. Mason, age 88, of Edwards, Missouri, passed away November 25, 2020, at the Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was born on May 11, 1932, in Oxford, Arkansas, to Curtis and Dorothy (Montgomery) Mason and grew up in Viola, Arkansas.
Dale enlisted into the US Marine Corp in 1952 and served in the Korean War receiving his honorable discharge in 1955. Following his military service he pursued his love for music and became an accomplished musician who wrote and played country music. He also was working for American Can Company and later for General Motors in Kansas City, Missouri, retiring in 1987.
On October 3, 1969 he was united in marriage to his beloved Florence Hope Hoerl. They made their home in Kansas City, Missouri until 1989 retiring to their lake home in Edwards, Missouri. There they enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and traveling across the country in their motor home.
They were very active in the community as members of New Hope United Methodist Church and Dale served as Chief on the FF14-FF17 Volunteer Fire Department and did many fund raisers for the department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence Hope, two brothers, Roland and Paul Mason, a sister, Mary Stanley, a grandson, David Jerome Hoerl and one great-grandson, Grady William Jones.
He is survived by six children, Dale Mason and wife, Kathy, Debbie Hightower, Doug Mason and wife, Anita, Deanna Sartain and husband, Mike, Denise Rowlette, and Darin Mason, five step-children, Jim Hoerl and wife, Debi, Jerry Hoerl and wife, Julie, Sharon Root, Tom Hoerl, John Hoerl, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of which live in the surrounding greater Kansas City area.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Cable Ridge Cemetery near Edwards, MO. arsrrangements under direction of Reser Funeral Home, Arrangements by Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO.
