Paul Wray Cope, 77

Paul Wray Cope, 77, of Macks Creek passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.

Paul was born on July 26, 1943 in Warren County, Missouri to the late C. Evermont and Dorothy (Jurgensmeyer) Cope. He was a graduate of Warrenton High School in 1961. Paul was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joan Willer on September 17, 1960 in Winfield, Missouri and she survives at their home. He was employed the majority of his life with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and worked for them as a Park Superintendent from 1972 to 1983, and then took the position of Heavy Equipment Supervisor which he held until his retirement in 1998. Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many vacations perfecting his skills. He loved playing baseball in his younger years, enjoyed spending time outside, enjoyed observing a good softball game, and watching all of his grandkids play sports.

Paul knew no stranger, everyone became his friend that he kindly referred to as “He’s (She’s) a Dandy”. Paul is survived by his wife Joan Cope; three daughters: Mary Whitman (Cash), Dee Zawislak (Michael Atkinson), and Kelly Bryner (Ken) all of Lake Ozark, MO; 5 grandchildren: Bobbie Grant (Justyn), Cassius Whitman, Wyatt Whitman, Grace Faulkner, and Avery Faulkner; two great grandchildren: Jarin Grant and Jayleigh Grant; 4 step grandchildren: Austin Atkinson, Ashleigh Bryner, Austin Bryner, and Alyea Bryner; and one step great grandchild, Raeleigh Bryner-Strong.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Kip Cope, and one sister Virginia Spalding.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in his name to the Dogwood Animal Shelter 1075 Runabout Dr. Osage Beach, MO 65065.
