David Gene Moulton, 82

David Gene Moulton, age 82, of Linn Creek, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020, at his home. He was born March 9, 1938, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of the late Orville B. and Ruth (Langdon) Moulton.

His family moved to Lake of the Ozarks in 1954 and he graduated from Camdenton High School in 1956.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1964 as a radio intercept operator.

On July 1, 1960, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Helen “JoAnn” (Short) Moulton in Kansas City, Missouri. They recently celebrated sixty years of marriage.

David worked at General Motors in Kansas City from 1964 to 1974. He and JoAnn then moved back to the lake where they owned and operated Lake Discount Center hardware store until his retirement. Following his retirement, he worked at B&P Hickory Pit and, most recently, at Walmart since 2017.

Dave’s favorite hobbies were fishing, wood working, lake life and saltwater fishing. He enjoyed socializing, which led him to start his neighborhood “safety meetings” that he looked forward to daily. Also, being around friends and family brought him much happiness. David was a member of the Hurricane Deck Lions Club and the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach.

In addition to his wife, JoAnn, he is survived by his daughters, Kim (Nick) Stutesman of Laurie and Kathy (Kurt) Adamson of Independence, Missouri; grandchildren, Juli (Ian) Ward, Sara Jo (Ben) Coen and Jackson Adamson; great-grandchildren, Caellum Coen, Ariella Coen and Ruby Jean Ward; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, Friday, September 11th, at Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel with service, including full military honors, to follow officiated by Pastor Nick Stutesman. A luncheon will follow in St. Leo’s Hall located in the lower level of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. Memorial contributions are suggested to Sunrise Bible Church. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
