Jutta Margarete Hildegard Brunk

Fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church, Jutta Margarete Hildegard Brunk (nee Cejka), born April 16, 1941 in Berlin, Germany, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 23, 2021 at 80 years of age.

Jutta was the oldest daughter of the late Josef and Elfrieda Cejka and is survived by her sister, Rita Gamble; her children, Marilyn (Tim) McCullen, Marty (Mary) Tichy and Eric (Frances) Tichy and her nine grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.

Jutta came with her mother and sister to America from Austria in 1955. She worked hard in school to master English and achieve good grades. At the tender age of twenty, she married Martin W. Tichy, Sr., and became the instant mother to his four children he had with his late wife. In 1962, they welcomed their first child and completed their family with their second child in 1964. Jutta was an exceptional housewife, cook and was a great example of a good work ethic.

Although her first marriage ended in divorce, she later found love with and married William Brunk. During these years, she worked for Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. She loved that job and was sad to leave it in 2016 when her heath began to decline. She met and loved so many people during her years working in the Heart Hospital at Mercy.

She enjoyed cooking, knitting, traveling to the beach and parasailing. In her later years, she enjoyed her adult coloring books (she was a surprisingly talented artist), reading, writing her memoirs and, of course, her grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to her church, St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, Missouri.

Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
