Charles David Myers
Charles David Myers "Chuck" passed away peacefully June 4th 2021 at his daughter's home in Wellington FL. Chuck was born Feb 19th 1931, in Baton Rouge to Charles A. & Amy A. Myers(Bucksath). Chuck went to LSU & graduated from University of Missouri in Husbandry in 1953. He was Lambda Chi Alpha, captain of the ROTC rifle @ LSU & MU. Dec. 30, 1955 he & Earleen eloped to Natchez MS in the Methodist Church. Earleen had been a 2nd grade teacher.
In 1956, she joined Chuck in Ft Campbell KY where he was serving in the airborne artillery & was honorably discharged as 2nd LT. & they moved to Brunswick MO to begin farming cattle, hogs on 100 acres & corn, wheat & soybean on 800+ acres with his dad & brother. But, Chuck said the best crop he ever raised was 9 fine,healthy, intelligent children.
In 1960/61 he got his insurance & real estate broker's licenses. In 1967, he was President of the Central MO Real Estate Board. He began selling lots for Harold Koplar at the Lodge of the Four Seasons. In 1972, he moved the family to LOTO to live full time traveling by boat across the lake to go to school and work, leaving a car at the end of HH for several months until it got too cold and the lake was too choppy to cross. In 1974, he started a real estate company, & that year his family was in the paper because all 9 of the kids were @ School of the Osage from a Senior to kindergarten.
In 1977, he was president of Bagnell Board of Realtors & sold 25 resorts & businesses.
In 1980, he was a Director of the MO Realtor Association. His company was the 1st to attend out of town boat shows held in Des Moines, St.Louis, KC to promote owning property at "The Lake." Over 144 sales people began their career at Myers & Simpson & many went on to own their own companies including his son Chris. The company was sold in 1986. In March of 1989, Chuck quit drinking and stayed sober the rest of his life. (Chuck kept the cigars). In 1996, Earleen died of a brain aneurysm & Chuck began working for his son David's Casual Cab Company as the night driver. This was his favorite career. He drove 7 nights a week, playing trivia waiting for the next call & he found another true love, Mary. They married and in 2011 Mary died.
Chuck had begun to travel the world. He spent time in 59 countries/6 continents from Russia, China, Thailand/Cambodia/Vietnam, to Riverboat cruising on the Amazon & Europe, & luxury cruising on the Mediterranean & Carribean seas to New Zealand & Patagonia & beginning @75 yrs.old he went on 3 African safaris in 3 National Parks. All of his travels taught him that "we are all God's children."
He will continued to be loved & will be missed by 6 sons, 2 daughters
David (Debbie) Gray, Kathleen Reese (Bob), Shawn, Cotton (Marcy), Ashley Ouellette (Skip), Christian (Lorie), John Jay. And, 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, older brother Jake Myers, younger sister Mary Mitchell & many nieces/nephews from the Myers, Cruse & Heisel families.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Earleen Myers (Cruse)& Mary Myers (Morton). His son Chris Myers (died in 2017), brother Bill Myers, & sisters JoAnn Ousley & Amy Singer.
Funeral Services will be held Friday June 18th visitation @ 1pm and Church service at 2:30pm at Faithbridge United Methodist Church Osage Beach.
In lieu of flowers gifts can be made to Faithbridge.
Burial-Military honors June 21st @ 11am in the family plot @ Elliott Grove Cemetery Brunswick MO.
