Lana Jai (Hutchison) Andersen, age 52, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019, at her home in Versailles, Missouri, where she was a life-long resident. She was born December 21, 1966, at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia, Missouri to Jack and Kathryn (Scott) Hutchison. She weighed 11.5 pounds and was very proud of her healthy start, even holding the record for largest baby girl for a period of time.

Lana attended Morgan County R-2 Schools in Versailles where she was very active in volleyball, basketball and track. She was on the drill team and was voted FFA and prom queens. She married her high school sweetheart, Christopher “Chris” Scott Andersen on May 21, 1989. Their thirty year fun-filled marriage came to an end with Chris right by her side, providing her with unconditional love, support and care until the very end.

Lana attended Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri and studied fashion design. After college, Lana became a licensed cosmetologist and esthetician. She also served as an instructor for the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology. Eventually, she opened her own beauty salon, Lana’s Hair Care Plus.

Lana’s favorite job title became “Mother” when she stayed home for seven years raising her son and light of her life, Dodge Scott Andersen. Once Dodge started school, Lana worked as a paraprofessional at the Versailles schools, where she enjoyed every child with who she came in contact.

Following in her father’s footsteps, Lana became a Realtor which she excelled in and truly loved. She received numerous awards, beginning with Rookie of the Year and going all the way up to Lake of the Ozarks Top Producer and Century 21’s Centurion Producer. Lana also served on the Board of Directors for the Lake of the Ozarks Board of Realtors.

Lana’s favorite pastimes included enjoying life, TALKING and making friends. She had the gift of spontaneity and always made others feel special, no matter their age. Lana would often be cooking or ordering from QVC at three o’clock in the morning. She was always an animal lover and she treated her pets like family.

In addition to her husband Chris, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dodge and Tara Andersen of Versailles; mother, Kathryn Hutchison of Versailles; brother and wife, Dick and LaVena Hutchison of Sedalia and sister, Judy Jo Hutchison of Versailles. Lana has three nephews, Seth, Cole and Chance and four nieces, Amy, Shauna, Ashley and Lacey. She has five great-nephews, Dylan, Dalton, Rennick, Younger and Griffin and three great-nieces, Addison, Scarlett and Marlow Jai.

She was preceded in death by her father, Col. Jack Hutchison, grandparents, Richard and Millie (Reichel) Hutchison and Ed and Thelma (Chamberlain) Scott and several family pets, most recently Elly May “Sissy” Andersen.

Lana forged fifty-two years of laughter, generosity, compassion and kindness. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and community. Here is hoping she doesn’t sell off heaven before we all get there. Many of you will understand this and if you don’t, ask the person next to you. The next time you see a full moon, please think of Lana.

Having the opportunity to visit with Lana in depth before her passing, she asked that we, the family, make sure to thank all who served in the military. But more importantly, she wanted to say thank you for being a part of her amazing, crazy, fun-filled life.
