This week Camdenton Schools and the Smith Law firm would like to recognize the leaders of Camdenton High School’s JROTC program, Lieutenant Colonel Brenden McKiernan and 1st Sergeant David Dowell. The JROTC program began at Camdenton High School in the fall of 2019, and since its inception, has had a tremendous impact on the students of Camdenton High School. LTC McKiernan and 1SG Dowell have been diligent in recruiting students to participate in the JROTC program, and from this, we have seen positive growth in our students from the examples set by our JROTC instructors. They continue to take challenges in stride and make necessary adjustments to do what is best for students, whether they be seated or distance learners.

Additionally, the Camdenton High School JROTC program represents CHS in a professional manner, while also serving the community. Just recently, JROTC students and instructors worked at the Vietnam traveling wall, planned and carried out the 9-11 memorial ceremony at CHS, and presented the colors at the CHS football game. We are extremely fortunate to have LTC McKiernan and 1SG Dowell leading the CHS JROTC program, and we look forward to the exceptional opportunities this will provide our students and our school.
