When it comes to selecting the best businesses at the Lake, one survey has it all. Readers chose more than 160 winners in Lake Lifestyles magazine’s 11th annual Best of the Lake survey, on newsstands today. Categories included dining, boating, entertainment, home contractors, professional services, shopping, automotive & transportation, and health & wellness.

Best Mexican

If the size of the entrées don’t impress you, the drinks will. At MaMa CiTa’s servers greet you in moños and the treat-you-like-family atmosphere adds to the authentic experience you’ll have at this Osage Beach restaurant. Recipes from generations of Mexican cooks bring the flavors they learned to the Lake.
Chips are made fresh, the refried beans are homemade, and so is the enchilada sauce and corn tortillas …. it’s hard to find something that hasn’t been diced, sliced and chopped fresh each day.

Best Breakfast & Best Meal for the Money

Since 1953, this Lake icon has been anchored at the historic Bagnell Dam Strip serving cinnamon rolls so big you have to see it to believe it. Today, there are three Stewart’s locations around the Lake.
Typical diner fare is found here — from the pork tenderloin breakfast to the country fried steak or biscuits and gravy. Anything you order can be topped with chili, sausage gravy, shredded cheese or grilled onions. Go big or go home!

Best Family Amusement

Ha Ha Tonka State Park sees about 500,000 visitors each year. Many come to look at the famous castle ruins but with a natural spring, miles of trails and other natural wonders you’ll need to spend several hours to take it all in. Paved pathways and lots of steps lead you to awe-inspiring views.

Best Place to Grab a Beer & Best Kept Secret at the Lake

Craft beer and cocktails are all the rage, and there is a place in Osage Beach that offers them both. Ozark Distillery serves up the best locally-made spirits from their popular Ozarks Moonshine to the Mousekiller IPA.
A tour at Ozark Distillery is a must (book in advance). It’s a great place to take out-of-town guests where you will be thoroughly entertained by the distillery owner/tour guide.

Best Local Musician/Band

When the i-Berrys play at a local venue, expect them to draw a crowd. This nine-piece band has one goal in mind — to give you the time of your life. Each gig has a unique blend of Irish, Celtic, Pop, Funk, Country, Rock with a side of humor mixed in.

Best Golf Course

With more than a dozen golf courses spread out across the Lake area, it’s not hard to find a place to hit the green. Osage National Golf Resort has 27 holes stretching along rolling hills with breathtaking views. Arnold Palmer designed the 18-hole course. The property also has a clubhouse, hosts special events, and offers lodging.   

Best Boat Dealer & Best Marine Repair Service

Boating has been big business this summer. Thanks to COVID, more people have found living the Lake life has its perks. One of industries staying busy this season has been local marine dealers. They’ve all reported a sales increase for gas, new and used boats, and marine accessories.
The boating industry is alive and well.
