Local boy scout Carter Newman is in the final steps of becoming an Eagle Scout after completing and donating a flag retirement box  to the Lake Ozark Fire Department for public use. Newman says he and his dad Ike Newman worked on the box since March and were limited with help during quarantine. Newman became a scout over 12 years ago and has been working diligently towards his Eagle Scout recognition ever since.

“I really thought this project would benefit the community a lot and serve the public,” Newman said.

Donations for the project were made by both Lowes and Home Depot, as well as a couple in Jefferson City who donated the vinyl lettering. The box can be accessed and utilized by anyone in the public and can be found in the front lobby of the Lake Ozark Fire Department near the Bagnell Dam Strip.
