Lois Joan “Jo” Turchie was born on February 20, 1939 in Huntsville, the daughter of Willis and Ola Belle (Neeson) Turchie.
Early in her career, Jo was proud to work for Southwestern Bell. She then began working at Brooks Brothers in Lake of the Ozarks, where she loved helping customers coordinate suit and tie combos, until retiring. Jo was a proud member of the Camden County Democratic Central Committee and Democrat Club while living in Camdenton.
After moving to Mexico, she continued working in the Audrain County Democratic Club. She was a lifelong Baptist.
Jo greatly enjoyed judging pageants and traveled extensively judging various American Miss Pageants, among other pageants.
Survivors include Sarah (Joe) Maxwell and Christy Baker (Preston Essex), all of Mexico; five grandchildren, Megan (Tyler) Maxwell Huez, Shannen Maxwell, and Lauren, Tyler and Mya Stone; and three sisters, Myra Winkler of Moberly, Della (Steve) Potter of Raytown, and Rosalie Trenago of Moberly. Jo was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Kathy Baker. Jo’s biggest delight in life was her grandchildren. After retiring, she spent many years caring for Lauren, Tyler and Mya. She was especially close to Lauren and proud of her accomplishments, most notably her college studies.
