A couple from Shawnee Mission, KS was charged in Morgan County in connection with an alleged rape in July 2019.

The probable cause statement says that Cassandra J. Wedeking, 39, and Carl F. Mort, 41, raped their victim and were found with a white powdery substance that was tested positive as cocaine, as well as pills consistent with ecstasy. This happened at Millstone Marina in Gravois Mills.

The victim says that she met with the couple at Coconuts Bar and Grill and says they introduced themselves as brother and sister. After some drinking, the couple, the victim and two accomplices boarded a vessel to go to a different bar. The victim says they intended to head to Shady Gators. However, she says that the couple intended to stop at their dock before going out for the evening.

Once at the dock, Wedeking told her that she had to go inside to change. She invited the victim in and offered to let  her charge her phone. She says Wedeking then placed lines of what she believed to be cocaine on the counter and asked her if she wanted any.

The victim says she then attempted to get off the boat, but was stopped. Mort got back on the boat.  The victim alleges she was held down and raped and sodomized by the couple.

Once the rape was over, the victim says she asked for a bottle of water. Once Mort left to retrieve the bottle, the victim got up and ran off the boat, leaving her skirt behind.

Mort later said in a post-Miranda interview that the victim had verbalized she was going to have sex with him in front of everyone, though no witnesses corroborated this. Mort denied the allegations and said the sexual contact was consensual.

Wedeking stated that she did not touch the victim at any point but did watch Mort and the victim. Both Mort and Weeding denied having any cocaine on the boat.

Both Mort and Wedeking were charged with the following felonies:

first-degree rape or attempted rape

first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy (three counts)

possession of a controlled substance (three counts)

Mort was charged with an additional count of first-degree sodomy and issued a warrant with a $150,000 bond. Wedeking's bond was set at $100,000. The two have not been taken into custody, according to Morgan County law enforcement.
