The Sheriff's Department has earmarked the funds to assist in the purchase of Crime Watch Prevention signs to be used in Community Watch areas in neighborhoods designated by civic minded people to enhance the safety of their communities.

Community Crime Watch areas are created by civic-minded people providing their time, dedication and resources to form a team, with the goal of a safer community wherein neighbors watch out for each other. These “Community” Watch groups are most appreciated by Law Enforcement. With a year round population in Camden County of +/- 46,000, and a seasonal population of +/- 138,000, covering an area of 709 miles, and finite resources, we simply cannot be everywhere. So, we rely on the public to be our eyes and ears.

These Crime Watch groups are run by the individuals involved, not us. But we often provide guidance and suggestions for them including; how to recognize possible criminal activity, how to report said activities to Law Enforcement, how to establish reporting systems within the Watch Group, how to know who in their neighborhood might require extra attention i.e. elderly, etc. Working together, we create a safer living environment for us all. Toward that end, Crime Watch signage is very important when identifying Crime Watch Areas, and donations supporting their purchase and placement is much appreciated to assist in crime prevention. Thank you Unity at the Lake Spiritual Center for your support.
