The show will go on, just not in 2019.

The Lake of the Ozarks Air Show slated for September each year is taking a hiatus for 2019 due to a long-awaited airport expansion at the Camdenton Memorial Lake Regional Airport.

Sponsored by the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce, city of Camdenton and other major sponsors, the fall event draws an attendance of more than 5,000 visitors each year. In addition to hosting airshow performers from all over the country, the event honors lake area veterans.

Camdenton Chamber Director Trish Creach said the planning process is already underway for 2020 with more programs to honor veterans including a welcome home for Vietnam veterans. Creach said many Vietnam veterans returned home and were never recognized like those of other conflicts.

The air show is a major undertaking. In years past, there have been scheduling conflicts with other air shows, the break between shows is giving the sponsors and an opportunity to not only expand the event but also evaluate when future shows should be scheduled. .
