Lake Regional Health System announces Ken Holt, D.O., has joined Lake Regional Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Holt, who is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, provides women’s health services primarily at Lake Regional Clinic – Eldon but also has appointments at Lake Regional Obstetrics and Gynecology in Osage Beach. He also delivers babies at Lake Regional Family Birth Center in Osage Beach.

“Lake Regional is committed to providing women with exceptional health care, and we are pleased to welcome Dr. Holt to our team,” said Mary Lou Gamm, RNC-OB, director of Women’s and Children’s Services. “He is an experienced physician who understands the importance of listening and helping women make informed decisions.”

Dr. Holt began his medical career as a pharmacist. He enjoyed interacting with patients and decided to become a doctor so he could be more involved in their care from start to finish. As part of his training, he rotated through various specialties, including OB-GYN.

“I wasn’t planning on OB-GYN at all, but when I got to the end of the rotation, I thought, ‘I’m really going to miss this,’” he said. “There’s nothing quite as amazing as being part of bringing a new life into the world.”

Along with caring for pregnant women, Dr. Holt provides routine and advanced gynecological services for women of all ages, including treatment for incontinence and pelvic pain.

He also performs surgeries, including endometrial ablation and laparoscopic hysterectomy.

He said trust is essential in his patient relationships, and he helps patients think through their options.

“I tell my patients, ‘I make suggestions, but you ultimately get to decide what you want to do,’” he said. “I encourage patients to take part in their own health care. You have to have a working relationship for diagnosis and treatment to be effective. It’s a partnership.”

Dr. Holt earned his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed a family medicine internship with the University of Missouri – Kansas City and an OB-GYN residency at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Originally from Lee’s Summit, Dr. Holt has vacationed at the lake for many years and is happy to live here full time. His hobbies include horseback riding, hiking, boating, water skiing and snow skiing, and he’s a rodeo fan. He has six children and nine grandchildren.
