This Council has decided to donate their money from the building fund to this worthy cause of providing essential maintenance at The National Shrine.

The Knights of Columbus, Mary, Mother of the Church Council 10381 of Laurie, MO is presenting a check for $50,000 to The National Shrine of Mary, Mother of the Church. Presenting the check is Grand Knight Andy Neff, District Deputy Dave Groth, Pastor John Schmitz and the Knights to Shrine Chairman of the Board, Don Drake and General Manager, Sue Schneider and other Board Members.  After 30 years, the Mothers’ Shrine (located adjacent to St. Patrick Catholic Church) is having a major appeal drive for maintenance and repairs.  The Shrine needs to raise $290,000 for this project.  The Shrine is working with Brad Copeland, who is in charge of Building and Properties at the Jefferson City Diocese, to help provide proven contractors.

The Knights of Columbus Council had saved up monies for a Council Hall.  However, they have used St. Patrick’s dining hall by providing a monthly stipend and helping with maintenance.  Instead, this Council has decided to donate their money from the building fund to this worthy cause of providing essential maintenance at The National Shrine, also site of summer Masses and pilgrimages.

We would like to challenge other Knights of Columbus Councils to place their Priests’ mothers’ names on the Mothers Wall of Life.  The National Shrine is an entity on its’ own and only receives funds from the Masses held in the Shrine during summer months.  Other means of support for the Shrine is by the engraving of Mothers’ names on the Mothers Wall of Life. To help support the National Shrine of Mary, Mother of the Church in this appeal, please contact General Manager, Sue Schneider at the Shrine office. (573)-372-8595 or email gmmothersshrine@gmail.com.
