Specialized courts like Veterans Treatment Courts have been growing in popularity across Missouri and the United States due to the effectiveness of these courts.
The Camden County Commission is excited to announce the creation of the Camden County Veterans Treatment Court. Beginning in early 2019, the Honorable Judge Arron Koeppen along with Prosecuting Attorney Heather Miller and the Camden County Commission are instituting this treatment court to serve our Veteran offenders who need specialized treatment and care.
The Camden County Veterans Treatment Court will take a more focused and intensive approach to assisting Veteran offenders in overcoming addictions, mental health disorders and any other issues which lead to criminal behavior. The court staff will include Judge Koeppen, Prosecuting Attorney Heather Miller, and a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to develop individualized plans for each Veteran offender accepted into the Veterans Treatment Court. Studies have shown that this intensive approach greatly reduces an offender's chance of reoffending and is a significant cost saving measure to the County.

The commission would like to thank the Honorable Judge Aaron Koeppen and Prosecuting Attorney Heather Miller for their outstanding cooperation in creating the Camden County Veterans Treatment Court. Many residents of Camden County are veterans, often suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, issues related to traumatic brain injury, and service-related substance abuse issues. In trying to find their footing as they re-enter the civilian world, sometimes veterans stumble.
In creating the Veterans Treatment Court, our goal is to gather around them as a community, fully support them, and help them find their feet again. As fellow Americans, we feel this is the least that we can do. To that end, the Camden County Commission is pleased to announce the establishment of the Camden County Veterans Treatment Court.
