Leon Douglas Brenon, 74,  born  October 17th, 1944 in Bonne Terre Missouri,  son of John and Gertrude Brenon.  Lee passed away on March 8th, 2019 while traveling in Poland.

In 1962, Lee graduated from Bonne Terre High School going on to play baseball at Southwest Missouri State University where he graduated in 1966.

Lee and  family moved to Lake of the Ozarks where he started Lee Brenon’s Tax Service and purchased Britt’s Heavenly Haven a  4 cabin family resort in 1974.

Upon taking ownership they changed the name to what is now known to all, Sunset Inn Resort.   He took great pride in the resort and actually built most of the buildings which stand today.

Lee loved to travel.  His travels took all over the world.   The last four years, his adventures took him on a 500 mile hike across Spain while hiking the Camino di Santiago twice

While stationed in the army in Germany 1968 he developed a passion for learning about family history.  He located many relatives in France and continues to maintain an active relationship with them including a recent visit in his latest 2 month trip across Europe this past fall.

While loving the resort and all of his travels his true joy came from his children Mindy, Aimee and Bruce and their 9 children.  Lee played an active role their lives as he always allowed them to shine in their own special way. He loved to watch them play sports, show their musical talents, and enjoy the resort as his own children did.

Lee is survived by his three children Mindy Brinkhorst (Will), Aimee Smith (Keith) and Bruce Brenon, his brother Jean Brenon, sister Donna Schmidt and 9 Grandchildren.  In Lieu of Flowers you can send contributions to the resort and a tree will be planted in Lee’s name or you can send donations to the American Legion 624 PO Box 61 Sunrise Beach, MO 65079.  Memorial Service will be held at Sunset Inn Resort on April 13th, 2019. Visitation begins at 1:00 PM. A lake side sendoff service starts at 6:30 PM.
