The wait is over. Tan-Tar-A will officially become Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake of the Ozarks this spring.

Grab a cold drink and leave your worries at the door.

Chances are you’ve heard the famous song “It’s 5 o’Clock somewhere,” and know who sang it best — Jimmy Buffett. The famous musician is not only known for his Caribbean rock n’ roll but has developed a growing number of successful island-inspired resorts and a global lifestyle brand playing off his songs that evoke a passion for tropical escape and relaxation. So when plans were announced in 2017 that Margaritaville was coming to Lake of the Ozarks through a large-scale renovation and rebranding of Tan-Tar-A Resort, excitement grew about the changes happening around the property.

The wait is over. Tan-Tar-A will officially become Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake of the Ozarks this spring.

“Margaritaville is synonymous with a laid-back, no-worries lifestyle, which blends in perfectly with the Lake of the Ozarks,” Ann Walters, director of sales for Tan-Tar-A Resort said. “The Margaritaville lifestyle translates into virtually every destination and appeals to a broad range of consumers. As the first Lake resort under the Margaritaville brand, Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake of the Ozarks will introduce its unique vacation state of mind to the Lake.”

Tan-Tar-A Resort was acquired in 2017 by Driftwood Acquisitions & Development and renovations began immediately. Buffett is an owner in Margaritaville Holdings, which licenses the brand.

The majority of the property’s guest rooms and exterior have been refreshed to incorporate Margaritaville’s “casual-luxe’” design.

All buildings in the Resort Complex have been painted a shade of warm sand with a white trim, and guest rooms feature Margaritaville touches such as sky-blue walls, warm wood elements and bright accents. The lobby, along with several other resort features, are currently being renovated.

Several new dining concepts have been introduced to the property, including JB’s Boathouse Grill and Frank & Lola’s Pizzeria, both open now, and LandShark Bar & Grill, opening this spring.

In addition to the renovations, several of the resort’s attractions will be renamed to reflect the Margaritaville lifestyle including Fin City Bowling and Fin City Arcade.

“People can expect the distinct sense of fun and escapism they love about Margaritaville. The resort will continue to be a family-friendly destination, providing a perfect escape for guests of all ages. They’ll be delighted by the nonstop fun all around including golf, horseback riding, bowling, a full-service marina, an indoor waterpark, arcade and three outdoor pool complexes,” Walters said. “Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake of the Ozarks will be a one-of-a-kind paradise for guests looking to drift away by the Lake. With multiple restaurants, pools, activities and more, guests will find something new to do every day without ever having to leave the property. It will be the perfect place to eat, play and stay at the Lake of the Ozarks.”

Margaritaville Lake of the Ozarks is among a handful (so far) of offshore resorts that have been established by Margaritaville globally. Margaritaville features 17 lodging locations and 20 additional projects in the pipeline with nearly half under construction, three gaming properties and 60-plus food and beverage venues including signature concepts such as Margaritaville Restaurant, award-winning JWB Prime Steak and Seafood, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill and LandShark Bar & Grill. More than 20 million travelers every year change their latitude and attitude with a visit to a Margaritaville resort, residential real estate destination, vacation club, vacation home rental or restaurant.

Consumers also can escape the everyday through a collection of Margaritaville lifestyle products including apparel, footwear, frozen concoction makers, home décor, a satellite radio station and more. Additionally, the brand’s food, beverage and spirits lines – including Margaritaville tequilas, rums, LandShark Lager and a new bestselling cookbook – deliver authentic, tropical escapism to fans around the world. Margaritaville has been a state of mind since 1977.
