Officers were able to obtain video and at that time believed that the juvenile was responsible for stealing the vehicle.

This press release was issued by the Camdenton Police Department Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday, Dec. 5, at approximately 4:20 p.m., officers were called to a business on North Highway 5 in reference to a white male subject. He was observed entering a vehicle that did not belong to him.

Upon arrival, officers searched the area but were unable to locate the subject. A short time later officers were called for a runaway juvenile. Officers learned the juvenile matched the description of the person entering the vehicle from the previous incident.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., officers were called to Wal-Mart for a reported stolen motor vehicle. Officers were able to obtain video and at that time believed that the juvenile was responsible for stealing the vehicle. A short time later, the vehicle was recovered and the juvenile was apprehended.

The investigation will continue with possible charges.

Officers want to encourage all citizens to lock their vehicles and remove valuables since the majority of vehicle tampering incidents occur when the vehicle is left unlocked.
