I must confess to not being entirely trustful of the current Senator. I've a tendency to distrust people, who smile with their mouth, but their eyes are too frequently not included.
Editor’s Note: This letter is in response to a Readers’ Mailbag item from Rev. Dr. Ira S. Williams, Jr., “Democracy depends on selfless votes, not selfish ones,” published in the Oct. 31, 2018 Lake Sun.
I preface my comments by first pointing out that I'm an independent voter simply because I have problems with the lengthy periods of incompetence shown by both political parties and feel there is dire need for a third independent party. It appears to me that the reverend's words are good example of why. The good reverend appears very ardent, but also gives the impression that he's reading from the latest democrat bulletin. He ignores the fact that the democrats have run the country for years and there is little to praise them for except that there are more than a few who have managed to feed at the public trough for thirty or forty of those years. The same can be said for many of the GOP. Their response to what the reverend is so completely sure of, would be to refute all of what he has said.
This makes each party perhaps half right at best. I must confess to not being entirely trustful of the current Senator. I've a tendency to distrust people, who smile with their mouth, but their eyes are too frequently not included. Having said that, I do have one question for the reverend. Sir, you are a staunch democrat and supporter of Senator, McCaskill and I'm assuming you have or had a congregation. Does your support of abortion create a dilemma for you when you stand before the people and God and so state? That, as you must already know is part of the Senator's current platform, (women's rights).
