Lester M. Clark, age 89, of Laurie passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Laurie Care Center. He was born March 20, 1929, the son of the late Harvey and Alma Aleen (Arnold) Clark.
On June 4, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Shirley (Sullivan) Clark.
Lester was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict where he was awarded a Purple Heart.
Lester was employed at Consolidated Freightways in Kansas City as a mechanic, retiring after forty-two years of service. Most recently, he worked at AOK RV Sales and Service in Laurie as a salesman for many years.
He was an active member of Kent Memorial Lutheran Church in Sunrise Beach, member of the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705 in Laurie and the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach.
Lester enjoyed spending time in his shop woodworking. He crafted various pieces of furniture and pool tables for many over the years.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Kelly of Kansas City, Kansas, Lila Price of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Frank Sullivan of Stockton, Missouri, Don Sullivan of Jacksonville, Florida and David Sullivan of Chicago, Illinois and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lena Mae.
Lester was loved by many and will be truly missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, September 20th, at the Kent Memorial Lutheran Church in Sunrise Beach with Pastor Carl R. Gauck officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, at the church. Entombment will be held at a later date in the columbarium at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, 184 Sunset Hill Drive, Sunrise Beach, Missouri 65079.
