Sunrise Beach Police arrested a prior drug offender this week for allegedly distributing methamphetamine from a location near a school.
Christopher J. O’Bryan Jr. was arrested August 21, 2018 after a search of his residence at 83 Planters Road. The SBPD conducted the search upon the consent of the residents, according to a press release from the Sunrise Beach Police Department. Officers visited the residence for “knock and talk,” the press release states, after receiving information that illegal drug activity was occurring at the home, located within 1,000 feet of Lake Christian Academy.
In the search, officers reportedly found several baggies of a white crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine along with a scale, numerous smoking devices and mirrors with the same residue. A baggie with a white crystalline substance found on one of the subject’s in the residence also field-tested positive for methamphetamine, and that person later admitted to the use of meth.
During an interview, one of the subjects also admitted to making sales of methamphetamine from the residence.
O’Bryan was subsequently arrested and transported to the Camden County Detention Center where he was charged by the Camden County prosecutor with distribution of a controlled substance within a protected area and possession of drug paraphernalia. The 30-year-old is being held at the jail in lieu of a $500,000 surety bond.
O'Bryan has past felony drug convictions.
Also arrested at the residence was Kristen Jett. She was transported to the Camden County Detention Center and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $5,000 surety or $500 cash.
