Southwest Camden County Fire Protection District is reporting that a person who went missing last night on the Niangua River has been located safe with minimal injuries.
At 2344 hours (around 11:44 p.m.) on July 12, 2018, personnel from Southwest Fire, Mid-County Fire Protection District and Missouri State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the section of the Niangua River between Whistle Rd. and Old Morgan Rd. for a missing person, according to a press release from Southwest Fire. A search was conducted until approximately 4 a.m. when it was decided that daylight hours would serve better.
Continued this morning, personnel searched by boat on the river. At 10:26 a.m. Mid-County personnel were able to locate the subject in the area of Mother Nature's Retreat. The subject was bruised when his raft hit a root in the river. The subject reported having stayed overnight and then went farther down the river this morning meeting with the Mid-County crew. The subject was taken off the water and reunited with family by Southwest Fire.
"We would like to say a job well done by all agencies involved and thankful the patient was not severely injured," the press release stated.
