A national crime show will examine a Morgan County mystery this week.

Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen will air an episode May 2 focusing on Angie Yarnell, a woman who went missing from the Ivy Bend area in the fall of 2003. While Angie’s body has never been recovered, her husband Michael Shane Yarnell was not named as a person of interest in her disappearance until 2007. Finally arrested in Biloxi, Mississippi and extradited to Versailles, Michael Yarnell was charged in Angie’s death in 2008.

Under questioning, he claimed Angie’s death was an accident that occurred during an argument. Michael Yarnell plead guilty to first degree involuntary manslaughter in 2009 and was sentenced to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Angie Yarnell is the daughter of Marianne Asher-Chapman of Holts Summit. Asher-Chapman went on to become a co-founder of Missouri Missing, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to “unite as one voice for our missing; create a support network for the loved ones of all missing persons and to educate and create awareness for the families of all missing persons.”

Crime Watch Daily airs at 1 p.m. on KMIZ-DT3, channel 17.3, Columbia, Missouri and on WDAF, channel 4, Kansas City; at 2 p.m. on KTVI/KPLR, channel 2, St. Louis; and at 3 p.m. on KYCW, channel 3, Springfield, Missouri.
