Lace up your running shoes for a mesmerizing and magical run or walk through the greening grape vines of St. James Winery Vineyards. The winery and Public House Brewing Company are hosting their Second Annual Grapes and Grain Fun Run 5K Saturday, May 5 at 10 a.m. at the St. James Winery Vineyard Cottage (19506 Co Rd 1000) in St. James, Mo. “At this time of year, the vineyards are awakening from their winter sleep and they are beautiful,” said Gina Maben, events manager at St. James Winery and Public House Brewing Company. “We created this event so people can experience our vineyard in a unique way and enjoy outdoor exercise surrounded by incredible scenery.”
Participants must be at least 21 years old. They can run or walk the 5K (3.1 miles) off-road path through the vineyards. After each completed mile, participants can enjoy samples of wine or beer. At the finish line, they can celebrate their success with an entire glass of wine or beer. After the race, participants will receive energy-boosting snacks. Their registration fee includes a T-shirt as well. No pets are allowed on the course, but they do invite them to meet you back at The Gardens on campus after the race. Participants and spectators alike are encouraged to bring their blankets or chairs and stay after the race to relax to the sounds of crowd favorite, Hey Dave, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Yard games will be available to play. Hamburgers, hot dogs and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available to purchase.
Proceeds from the Grapes and Grain Fun Run 5K benefit the Friendship School Foundation, an organization dedicated to engaging and educating the local community on sustainability best practices. Registration is $25 per person. Register online at https://phbc.ticketspice.com/grapes-and-grain-fun-run.
