Lake Regional Health System honored its hospital volunteers during the Auxiliary’s annual meeting, held April 12.

At the dinner, the volunteers were recognized for contributing a total of more than 50,000 service hours to the hospital in 2017. Individuals also were recognized for total hours contributed to the hospital throughout their volunteer service.

“We thank every one of our volunteers for giving generously of their time to support Lake Regional in our mission to provide exceptional health care to our community,” said Terri Hall, director of Fund Development and Auxiliary Services at Lake Regional. “Our volunteers are enthusiastic about giving back and helping others in need.”

During the dinner, Jayne Brown, Auxiliary president, presented a check for $83,000 to Lake Regional Health System CEO Dane W. Henry on behalf of the Auxiliary. The funds were raised through sales at Lake Regional’s gift shops, as well as through various fundraising events.

“Volunteers support Lake Regional in countless ways, from helping patients find their way to delivering mail to our staff,” Henry said. “Their kindness and generosity lifts spirits every day, and we thank them for making our community a better place.”

Started in 1977, the Lake Regional Hospital Auxiliary now has 352 members of all ages. The volunteers are a diverse group comprised of retirees, doctors, active businessmen, high school students and other community members. Volunteers serve in a variety of roles that fit their own special talents and interests. They also assist staff with community events and host the Annual Hospital Ball. Held each fall, the ball is one of the hospital’s largest fundraisers.
