Police are still investigating what might have a caused a 21-year-old Camdenton man to run out into US Highway 54 Saturday night where he was struck by an oncoming Dodge Durango. The unidentified pedestrian was seriously injured, according to a press release from the Camdenton Police Department, and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital, then was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

Witnesses and the driver of the SUV told police officers that the man suddenly ran from a parking lot out into the outer westbound lane of East US 54 near Skid Road in Camdenton around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, according to the press release. The 80-year-old Sunrise Beach driver said he would have been unable to avoid the collision.
