The City of Camdenton is ready to do business. On Mar. 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the city economic development team is hosting an open house to display a new comprehensive plan to make zoning development easier for housing, business, retail, and more.
City Administrator Jeff Hancock says that the open house will aim to communicate a number of ideas to interested parties. Firstly, an explanation of the newly adopted “Planned Unit Development” option to be used for mixed-use development, flexible site design, and multi-zoning. He says they are actively working on creating new housing opportunities to “meet the needs of the workforce on the lake.”
There will also be an update on area housing, retail development, needs for the downtown, and new initiatives coming from the city. A new idea coming forward for this work is the use of mini TIFs which Hancock says may be acquired for plans to aid in public improvement. This is among other economic tools which will be discussed at the open house.
Starting at 5:00 p.m., city and invited consultants are set to make a presentation. Hancock says this will include a brief speech from the city about where they sit in terms of development plans and will be followed by consultants outlining the possibilities they see as an idea for where Camdenton can go next. They will also be on standby for any questions regarding the new flexible zoning rules.
The open house will be held at the Camdenton City Hall, found at 437 W US Highway, Camdenton. Residents are invited to stop by anytime to ask questions and afterward to share feedback on the event.
