Bobby Lee Yates, 84, of Laurie, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018, at his home.  He was born April 10, 1933, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a son of the late Roy Nicholas and Grace F. (Kuhn) Yates.

He was united in marriage on August 19, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Doris Jean Renn, who preceded him in death on February 20, 2016.

Bobby was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict.

He was employed at Ayrest Laboratories as a pharmaceutical distributor for many years until his retirement.

Bobby was an active member of the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie where he also sang in the choir.  He was a member of the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach and the Lions Club in Kansas City, Missouri.

He enjoyed spending his spare time wood working.

Bobby is survived by his children, Lynda Reeves and husband Glen of Olathe, Kansas, Debra Yates of Olathe, Kansas, Richard Yates and wife Wanda of Sacramento, California and Bryan Yates of Olathe, Kansas; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Pauline Turner of Gravois Mills, Missouri and many other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert L. Yates, James Howard Yates and Roy Nicholas Yates and his sisters, Geraldine Schanuth, Margie Bruns and Verna Mae Byrd.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 22, at the West Lake Christian Church with Pastor Kelly Caldwell officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, at the church.  Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City, Missouri. Memorial contributions are suggested to the West Lake Christian Church.  Expressions of sympathy may be left online at  Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
