After special training in identifying non-fiction text features, Mrs. Allen's third grade students at Macks Creek School gowned up and headed for surgery. No, not actual surgery — text  surgery.

Students, aka doctors, were given multiple articles to help save their patients. All were in need of text feature care. Doctors were tasked with locating five different text features in the articles and label each one on a Band-Aid. The text feature Band-Aids were the life-saving tools used to save each patient. Doctors were able to collaborate with their colleagues about the features they found and their application in non-fiction text.

Non-fiction text features saved the day. All patients are reported to be on courses of full recovery after receiving such excellent care by such a knowledgeable, caring team of doctors. Gowns, masks, gloves and hats were donated by Best Friends Animal Hospital of St. Roberts.
