E.N. Ames, of Buffalo, formerly of Camdenton, departed this life on Saturday, March 18 at the age of 91.
On December 9, 1943, E.N. was united in marriage to Crystal Virginia Howes, and to this union seven children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, as well as a son, Richard Loren Ames; two daughters, Cheri Carlene Ames and Virginia Rae Ames, and two brothers.
Survivors include sons, Lindell Ames (Janna), of Warrenton, Missouri; and Rendell Ames (Tammy), of Buffalo Missouri; two daughters, Rayma Bax of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Ronda Glaspy (Mike), of Blairstown, Missouri. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: fourteen great-grandchildren; and sister Carlene Crawford of McFall, Missouri.
He served as a gunner’s mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was present offshore during the D-Day, where his ship ferried wounded soldiers across the English Channel to safety.
After the war, he and Crystal lived in Sheridan, Missouri, and later moved to Columbia, Jefferson City, and then to Camdenton in 1964. In October of 2006, they moved to Buffalo, Missouri.
E.N. was an accountant for many years and was the manager of the accounting department at Tan-Tar-A Resort. He subsequently opened his own bookkeeping and tax preparation firm in Camdenton and continued preparing taxes until he was well past the age of 80.
E.N. was a charter member of V.F.W. Post 5923 in Camdenton and a life member of the American Legion Post 193.  He was a charter member of the Camdenton United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 23 at the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home. A graveside service and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 24 at Fairview Cemetery in Bedford, Iowa.  Memorial donations may be made to the Central Missouri Honor Flight in care of the funeral home at 15 Clint Avenue, Camdenton, MO 65020.  Online condolence may be made at www.alleeholmanhowe.com.
