According to Mid County Fire Chief Scott Frandsen, MCFPD firefighters and Camdenton city police responded to the corner of Mulberry and Leonard streets after some workers struck a natural gas line while digging with a bobcat.

Emergency crews evacuated the vicinity, including surrounding homes, and blocked roads to the area. The high winds Wednesday also worked in the favor of public safety, helping to disperse the gas.

Summit Natural Gas arrived on scene quickly though, said Frandsen, and shut the gas line down.

By 3 p.m., firefighters and police were removing barricades and clearing the scene.
