Five of eight new troopers with the Missouri Highway Patrol assigned to Troop F are heading to marine operations on Lake of the Ozarks after their initial field training.

Troopers Max R. Lawson, Aaron A. Lindley, Shane W. Mahaney, Sadie D. Turnbull and Jesse J. Wagner graduated from the patrol’s 103rd Recruit Class on Friday. They will report for duty on Jan. 17, 2017.

Trooper Lawson has been assigned to Zone 18, which serves Miller County. The Iberia native graduated from Iberia High School and was previously employed as a Miller County sheriff’s deputy in Tuscumbia. Trooper Lawson’s field training officer will be Trooper Timothy C. Fick, and his zone supervisor will be Sergeant James E. Lowary.

A Meta, Mo. native, Trooper Lindley has been assigned to Zone 17, which serves the Lake of the Ozarks area. A graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia, Lindley attended University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg and Lincoln University in Jefferson City. He was previously employed at Jefferson City Flying Service. Trooper Lindley’s field training officer will be Trooper Aaron A. Starnes, and his zone supervisor will be Sergeant Chris S. Daniels.

Trooper Mahaney is assigned to Zone 11, serving Camden County. A native of Wentzville, he is a graduate of Holt High School. Attending the University of Missouri-St. Louis, he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology/criminal justice. Trooper Mahaney was previously employed at Rail Logistics in St. Louis, Mo. His field training officer will be Trooper Matthew R. Parker, and his zone supervisor will be Sergeant Matthew J. Cody.

Trooper Turnbull, a native of Columbia, Mo., is assigned to Zone 16, which serves the Lake of the Ozarks area. Trooper Turnbull graduated from Rock Bridge High School. After graduating high school, she attended the Moberly Area Community College in Columbia, where she earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice. She also attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, majoring in general studies. Trooper Turnbull was previously employed at Midwest Electronic Systems in Columbia. Her field training officer will be Corporal J. Wes Collins, and her zone supervisor will be Corporal Stephen M. Burgun.

An Ash Grove native, Trooper Wagner is assigned to Zone 6, which serves Morgan and Moniteau counties. After graduating from Ash Grove R-IV High School, he attended Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. Trooper Wagner was previously employed at True Value Hardware in Ash Grove. His field training officer will be Corporal Matthew L. Rice, and his zone supervisor will be Sergeant Donald R. Barbour.

Others assigned to Troop F include Bonnots Mill native Trooper Nolan A. Bax, assigned to Zone 8 in Callaway County; Bolivar native Trooper Andrew W. Lawman, assigned to Zone 15 in Callaway County; and Centralia native Trooper Gentry T. Pemberton, assigned to Zone 3 in Boone County.

These troopers were among 39 total who graduated from the patrol's Law Enforcement Academy Dec. 30. The ceremony took place at 10 a.m. in Jefferson City. The 103rd Recruit Class reported to the academy on July 5, 2016.

The recruits accumulated points toward graduation in the categories of physical fitness, firearms and academics throughout their 26 weeks at the academy.
